6. call off

(1) 叫走，轉(zhuǎn)移開(kāi)。如：

Call your dog off. 把你的狗叫走。

(2) 取消，不舉行。如：

The match was called off because of bad weather. 由于天氣不好，比賽取消了。

He phoned me and called the appointment off. 他給我打電話取消了這次約會(huì)。

7. call (up)on sb 拜訪或看望某人。如：

He called on them that evening. 他那天晚上去拜訪了他們。

I called upon Mrs Foster this evening. 我今晚去看望了福斯特太太。

8. call sb sth 為某人叫某物。如：

Please call me a taxi. 請(qǐng)幫我叫一輛出租車。

9. call (up)on sb to do sth

(1) 叫(請(qǐng))某人做某事。如：

Then the teacher called on me to answer the question. 這里老師叫我回答問(wèn)題。

We are calling on you to help us. 我們懇請(qǐng)你幫助我們。

(2) 號(hào)召某人做某事。如：

The Party called on us to study hard for the people. 黨號(hào)召我們要為人民努力學(xué)習(xí)。

10. call out

(1) 大聲叫(喊)。如：

He called out with pain. 他痛得大叫。

The drowning boy called out for help. 溺水的男孩大聲呼救。

(2) 叫出去。如：

The teacher called me out. 老師把我叫了出去。

(3) 召喚，請(qǐng)來(lái)，調(diào)去。如：

He decided to call out the army. 他決定動(dòng)用軍隊(duì)。

The fire brigade was called out twice last night. 昨晚消防隊(duì)出動(dòng)了兩次。

注：有時(shí)可接不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)。如：

A number of police were called out to keep order. 不少警察被調(diào)去維持秩序。

11. call up

(1) (給……)打電話。如：

Please call me up this evening. 請(qǐng)今晚給我打電話。

All right, I’ll ring up again. 好吧，我回頭再打電話。

(2) 想起，回憶起。如：

Your letter calls up the days when we worked together. 你的來(lái)信使我想起了我們?cè)谝黄鸸ぷ鞯那榫啊?/p>

(3) 召集，應(yīng)召入伍。如：

He was called up right at the beginning of the war. 他在戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)一開(kāi)始就被應(yīng)征入伍。
