besides/except/except for/except that/

except when/but/apart from

besides指“除……之外，另外還有”，著重于“另外還有”。

except指“從整體里減去一部分”，著重于“排除在外”。

except for與except同義，但except for所“排除在外”的通常是整體中的一個細節(jié)，

或是句中所述的整體內(nèi)容中的一個部分。

except that意為“除了”，與except for同義，后面接從句。

except when意為“除非”，“除了在……時候”。

but作介詞與except同義，表示“排除在外”。常與no, every, any構成的復合詞連用，構成none but, nothing but, anybody but, everyone but, everywhere but以及no one but, all but等結構。

apart from 兼有besides 和except for兩種含義，后接名詞、代詞或動名詞。

注意：用于否定句時，but, except和besides可以換用。

例句

Apart from their house in London, they also have a villa in Spain.

他們在倫敦有房子，此外在西班牙還有一座別墅。

Take the bike apart and try to repair it this morning.

請拆開這自行車并設法于今天上午修好。

There aren’t any other people to be considered but/except/besides Mr Brown.

除了布朗先生外，其他人將不予考慮。

I have five other story books besides this one.

除了這本外，我還有五本別的故事書。

He answered all the questions except the last one.

除了最后一個問題外，他回答了所有的問題。

I know nothing about him except that he lives next door.

我不了解他的情況，只知道他住在隔壁。

He goes to work on time every day except when he is ill.

他每天都按時上班，除非他生病了。
