generalize是由形容詞general加后綴-ize構(gòu)成的,其意思也由“一般的”變?yōu)椤耙话慊?概括,歸納,推論”�？梢员硎尽胺悍憾�,一概而論”,也可以表示“歸納起來,概括起來”。引申可表示“推廣,普及”。
generalize可用作及物動詞或不及物動詞,用作及物動詞時可接名詞或從句作賓語。
generalize用作不及物動詞時后接介詞about表示“對…進行概述”; 后接介詞for表示“泛指”; 后接介詞from表示“從(一定實例中)歸納或推演出某種規(guī)律或結(jié)論”。
在英式拼法中, generalize也可寫作generalise。
