It's time for school! But on May 14th, 170 students at Duncanville High School in Texas, US, were told to go back home.
Why? Because they were wearing the wrong clothes to school.
Schools in the US don't always ask students to wear uniforms. But they have dress codes(著裝要求). For example, Duncanville High School tells students to wear belts, shirts without logos(標(biāo)識).Schools' most-hated clothes are different.
In 2011, the saggy (松垮的) trousers law was passed in Florida. It stops students from wearing trousers that show body parts.
Now, "the favourite new target (目標(biāo) ) of the school dress code" is leggings( 緊 身 褲 ), reported the Associated Press. Some schools don't allow leggings. Other schools ask students to wear a shirt or a skirt over leggings.
Some students complain (抱怨)  that schools are going too far. But schools say dress codes help protect students' safety and make sure they grow up with good taste.

Andi Davise, 49, regularly crossed the trail through the Phoenix Mountains Preserve with a few other hikers before sunrise. This morning, however, she met nobody and heard only the sounds of animals.
Some time later, Andi got to the steep slope(陡坡), she climbed up to the top by using her hands. When she finally reached the top, she noticed a dark shape several inches from her left foot. She was frightened and then looked carefully. "It's a dog and it's dead." she said to herself. It took her a few seconds to realize that the dog's eyes were open. Mayme Clayton collected books, magazines and letters written by African Americans.  Her son, Avery Clayton, thought her collection was important. Unlike most books, these were rare and hard to find.  They were written by writers who helped shape African American culture.
One book in the collection was written by Phillis Wheatley.  Wheatley was a slave who wrote poetry.  She was the first African American to publish a book. Wheatley herself signed (簽名) the book in the Claytons’ collection.  No one else owns a copy signed by Phillis Wheatley.
By the time she passed aw ay at age 83, Mrs. Clayton had more than 30,000 books by black people.  Her collection also includes papers about slaves,  photographs, movies, sheet music, and personal letters by black leaders and artists.  It is one of the biggest personal collections of African American history and culture in the United States.
Avery Clayton’s dream was to create a museum for his mother’s treasures.  Scholars say that Mrs. Clayton’s collection is very important.  Without her work, part of African American heritage (遺產(chǎn)) would have been lost. “We didn’t know these things existed,” says Sara Hadron of California’s Huntington Library.
The collection’s new home is likely to be in Culver City, California.  Part of Avery Clayton’s dream is to share the cultural riches his mother collected with others. He especially wants kids to have a chance to see the collection.  “ At present African American culture is being explained by pop culture,” he says, “ It’s important to offer a more complete picture.”

Second, pay attention to the following: don't read in the sun or in a poor light; don't read in bed or in a moving bus. And when you read, you should keep the book away from your eyes for about a foot. Third, do eye exercises every day. It will also help you keep good eyesight.

An old man lived in the country. He had two sons and one daughter. They were Jim, Bob and Alice. They left home to make money and became rich soon. This year they came back together on Father’s Day. Each of them had a gift for their dad.
Jim bought a big and beautiful house for Dad. Bob sent him a car and Alice’s gift was a parrot. The parrot could speak to Dad. After a big dinner they left. Their dad was very happy.
A few days later, Dad sent them letters of thanks:
“Jim”, he wrote to one son, “the house is so large. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house.”
“Bob,” he wrote to the other, “I’m too old to travel. I spend most of the time at home, so I don’t use the car.”
“Dear Alice,” he wrote to his daughter, “ you really know what I like . The chicken was
delicious. Thanks.”

九、Dear agony aunt,
I’m a Grade 9 student. These days I have some problems, and I don’t know how to deal with them. I have too much homework to do every day. As a result, I often stay up late and I am sleepy in class. I like playing basket ball. I once tried out for the school basketball team, but failed. I think I have a gift for acting, and I dream of being a successful actor. So I joined the Drama Club. I even played a lead role in a play last year. I acted so well that I was thought highly of ,but it takes me a great deal of time.
I have thought of many ways to solve these problems, but they don’t work. I hope you will tell me how to achieve a balance between my study and hobbies. Could you help me? Please write to me soon!
Yours,
Daniel
