1. business is business 公事公辦(即不講交情等)。如：

Bill may be a friend but business is business, and he’s not the best man for the job. 比爾可以算是朋友，但公事公辦，他不是做這項工作最適合的人選。

2. do business with sb 與某人做生日。如：

It’s a pleasure to do business with you. 同你做生意很愉快。

We don’t do much business with foreign companies. 我們跟外國公司沒有多少生意來往。

3. get down to business 認真干事，開始談正經(jīng)事。如：

It’s time we got down to business. 我們該認真辦事了(討論實質(zhì)問題了)。

4. have no business doing [to do] sth無權做某事，沒有理由做某事。如：

You’ve no business to say that. 你無權說那樣的話。

He had no business going swimming that day. 他那天不該去游泳。

5. in business 在經(jīng)商。如：

He is no longer in business. 他不再經(jīng)商。

Most of my family are in business. 我們一家大多數(shù)經(jīng)商。

6. mind one’s own business 管自己的事，不干涉別人的事。如：

A：Where did you go last night? 昨晚你去那兒去了?

B：Mind your own business. 你少管閑事。

7. none of one’s business 與某人無關，不關某人的事。如：

It’s none of your business. 這不關你的事(你少管閑事)。

I know it’s none of my business, but what did you decide?

我知道這不關我的事，但我還是想請問你作出了什么決定呢?

注：有時也說 no business of sb’s。如：

It’s no business of yours. 這不關你的事。

8. on business 因公，出差，辦事。如：

No admittance except on business. 非公莫入。

I’m here on business, not for pleasure. 我是來辦公事，不是來玩的。
